Sir Harry (age 69) qualified as a solicitor in 1960 and remained in practice until 1977. In 1976 he was one of the two joint founders of Hillsdown Holdings plc, which became one of the largest food groups in Europe with a turnover of over £3 billion, employing approximately 45,000 people. Sir Harry occupied various executive positions in Hillsdown including chairman and chief executive. He retired from executive duties in 1992. Since then he has been involved in various other business enterprises. He currently has interests in a number of companies both public and private in the UK and in the US. He was awarded his Knighthood in 1991 for services to the food industry. Sir Harry is also an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
